That One Thing

Last week, I had a really great conversation with Dash Weiland and Jon Neumeister at the Espresso Gallery. Jon was telling us about how he had been reading Too Small to Ignore by Wess Stafford, and in the introduction the Stafford claims that we all desperately need a cause in our lives. Without something to live for and pursue, our lives are meaningless and the world is no better by us being here.

So Stafford asks, “What is the one thing that makes you start to cry within 30 seconds of thinking about it?” When you can answer this question, you have found your cause.

So I ask you, what is that one thing that brings you to tears when you think about it. It doesn’t have to be anything grandiose like “world peace”. When Jon brought that up, we got the opportunity to share a little bit about what that one thing was for each of us, if we knew it yet.

If you don’t know what it is yet, start searching and praying. I know too many people that have lived most of their lives for their own benefit and have never pursued anything greater.

May you find that one thing, and may God break your heart again and again for it so that your life is spent bringing the Kingdom of God to earth in ways you could never imagine on your own.
